I am excited to share the news that I wrote my first E-book...and it will remain an E-book only (for a while). If you are only a hard cover person-sorry! I have been creating menus and have been in a kitchen most of my life. It wasn't until last year that my Dad gave me "the intervention" and boosted my menu writing into book form. It's cheap and a quick read over a weekend. If you love to cook already, maybe you will find that we have a lot in common. It's the young people, though (you decide the age) that this book is aimed at.
The following is an example in my life that explains why: March 7, 2014
Today was remarkable to me as a dietitian and also as a mother. Many stories happened in my life today, but the top two are extremes. As you may know I counsel pregnant women (at their request) so they can achieve the most nutritious pregnancy they are capable of doing. I am their cheerleader! Today I met a woman in her 40's, who is single, went through IVF and now has the pregnancy she always wanted. She is a "woman-hear-me-roar" mom and she is making her dream of becoming a mother happen. I pray for her that this pregnancy shows her what life is all about. Eight hours later I find out that one of the families I counseled on end-of-life nutrition for their terminal then two-year-old, now three-year-old daughter passed onto life enteral in the past 24 hours. To me, this is what life is all about....and as a dietitian, I helped a mother with a 5-week-old fetus understand how to love HER body while another mother is grieving the loss of her daughter.
Here's the deal... I wrote a book with mothers in mind. I have been a mother for the past 11.5 years (including the pregnancy) and I know that how we nourish our bodies and the minds and bodies of others is powerful. What it boils down to is: tasty, nutritious, wholesome meals and conversation with family, friends and even strangers that turn into friends. I hope you enjoy my first e-book that took 15 years to create. Even though it is short, the content, behind-the-scenes menus and recipes that were fine-tuned so you can enjoy them too were all created with love, passion and a lot of taste.
